Lucy Moore Memorial Park is at the end of Baxter Street.

Warkworth-born Dr Lucy Moore (1906-1987) was a trailblazer in the fields of botany, ecology and women's rights. She is often known as "the mother of New Zealand botany".

During a long and distinguished career with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, she travelled to many remote and rugged parts of New Zealand for her fieldwork and authored many books including Flora of New Zealand and Plants of the New Zealand Coast.

Listen to recollections of Lucy.
